Influx of Orphans Raise to Alarming Numbers from Aftermath of January 2010 Earthquake

May 10, 2010: Due to the aftermath of the 7.0 Earthquake that devastated Haiti on January 12, 2010 where hundreds of thousands were left dead or injured, the increase in Children left to be taken care of at orphans has hit enormous numbers.  960 children have been abandoned or lost since the earthquake and are now registered with the United Nations Children's fund.  Parents have been forced to leave their children, hoping that they will be fed at last one meal a day at the orphanages.  Most were barely able to feed their children before the earthquake, and now with the devastation after the earthquake, they worse off than before.  For more information or to volunteer to help Haiti, please visit www.interaction.org.
